Vase Object I

Anne van der Waerden
Vase Object I is not a ceramic vase in the traditional sense, but rather an autonomous art object. The vase shape serves as the starting point for a free interplay of form, color, and surface. The opening at the top is particularly striking. Instead of the round, regular opening one would expect from a vase, Anne Van der Waerden opts for a distinct shape that contrasts beautifully with the object's soft curves. It is precisely this choice that breaks the familiar vase form and gives the work its own character. A remarkable unique ceramic piece from 1980.
