Yamato
Willem Lenssinck
This sculpture is not included in Willem Lenssinck's monograph because it was created later. In fact, this sculpture is based on the old plaster model of the caddisfly. Willem placed it in the water, which saturated the plaster. The wax, which you then pour into it, no longer sticks to the plaster. Nothing has been changed on the back. The front has been changed into a sleek tube. The face was created in negative, via the inside. Very subtle, the nose as well. Why Yamato: It stands for old Japan. An antique, authentic Japanese face. A successful experiment and a nice thing. Or so Willem says himself.
