Touch
Lia Laimbock
In Touch, Lia Laimböck captures a moment of stillness that is both ordinary and exceptional: the gesture of touch. The body folds into a natural posture; a pose that is not contrived, but seems to arise from feeling and protection. Lia consciously chooses figuration, not to simply copy reality, but to evoke a new world through suggestion and illusion. For her, figuration is a language that allows you to transport yourself to another space, world, or time. That is precisely what Touch does. The work invites the viewer not only to look, but to feel. The lines are simple and powerful. With minimal means, she creates maximum presence: the silhouette, the overlap in the faces, the curved posture, and the hands. There is no romantic pose or theatrical expression here. It is precisely through this restraint that credibility and, consequently, emotion arise. Touch is an ode to intimacy: to the human desire to connect, with others or with oneself.
