Dona Alegre

Willem Lenssinck
This sculpture was originally made from an MDF board. It was also a kind of torso. The sculptures are solid cast with holes in them. The spheres are also machine-made. The most remarkable thing at the time was the seam between the legs with the small cross. This was computer-controlled cutting with a laser or with water. That was completely new at the time. With water, diamond powder was added to make it sharper. You cannot cast the groove, hence this technique. You can rotate the spheres or the breasts. Typical Lenssinck humor.
