Cara Luna means Moon Face, but in Ripollés' work, the image remains human. The round face is simple, tangible, and direct in form. The yellow border around the face may remind you of the moonlight you often see—a soft glow that is nothing more than reflected sunlight. Many people forget this: the moon does not emit light. In this way, Ripollés connects the cosmic with the earthly in a playful square form.
