Klaas & Brockmeier

Sonnenmenschen refers to humans as bearers of light: open, vulnerable, and connected to our grand source of energy. In this collaborative work, Klaas and Brockmeier build up the image step by step. Brockmeier first creates an architectural space in the canvas. Klaas then starts working with self-prepared pigments and applies the sgraffito technique, creating light and depth. When everything is ready, sometimes with texts by Rainer Maria Rilke or Goethe scratched into it, Brockmeier adds his sculptures. In this way, Sonnenmenschen grows into a layered work of art.
