Taurus Magnus

Willem Lenssinck
The Bulls Heaven was, of course, the model for this large version with the magnificent name: Taurus Magnus. The sculpture was enlarged by hand in plaster by modeler Ger Prins. It took Willem three years (!) to create the complete model. It was then cast in parts at Noack in Berlin, assembled, and patinated by several people simultaneously. It is a typical example of a very contemporary phenomenon: genetic manipulation. Through breeding programs and crossbreeding of special cattle breeds, a super cow was bred. The adult bull that served as the model for the Taurus Magnus weighed 1600 kilos! Thanks to the durability of bronze, we can look back at this time in two centuries.
