A Horse Called Desire
Willem Lenssinck
The title of this sculpture is a play on the title of the film 'A Streetcar Named Desire'. During the time of creating this ceramic piece, Willem visited an exhibition of Polish naïve art in Yugoslavia. The sculpture has something of that atmosphere, a somewhat pop-art quality. The ceramic model still has a disc as a tail. The bronze version later received a bun tail. It also deals with man and woman, showing passion. Just look at the faces. The man looks up while the woman looks down. It's also a memory of the time when Willem was 16 years old and taught a beautiful girl how to ride a moped.
